La Reunion TX is implementing programs to create a proof of performance to the community of the types of activities we will pursue once we have a building. Click on any headline for more information on that program.

Art Chicas Unidas – Art Chicas is conducted in two phases – in the Fall as a workshop day and in the Spring as a retreat. We connect local, working artists with high school girls in an effort to introduce new ideas and provide instruction in the sustainability of art careers.

Tree Carving – Unhealthy and non–native trees have been tagged by Preservation Tree and approved by the City of Dallas for banding – a technique where the bark is hacked off one hands width around the trunk of the tree, thus inhibiting growth and slowly killing the tree from the inside out. The dying tree becomes a feast for insects and birds and restores a more balanced ecosystem. With artists doing the banding, the tree also becomes a long–term decomposing installation. Look for clean–up days throughout the winter and the Tree Carving to occur on February 2, 2008.

Script Writing for Graphic Novels – La Reunion TX loves the conversation between new and traditional media. We seek to have that dialogue as much as possible. Graphic novels are the perfect (fun) way to do so. In April 2007, we hosted our first workshop, Scriptwriting for Graphic Novels. In May 2008 we will launch another workshop.
