Vance Wingate has been actively involved in the north Texas art scene since moving to Dallas in 1989. He was involved with 500X Gallery for many years before branching off to start Gray Matters Gallery with a friend. He has studied painting, drawing, and printmaking at East Central University, where he received a Bachelors of Arts degree, and at the University of North Texas in graduate studies. For 14 years he was involved in operating Gray Matters Gallery and Red Room Books, which closed in 2005. He is currently curator for shows at local and regional art spaces, exhibiting his own work, and working to open a printmaking workshop, For Panic Press, in Dallas.
